One of the most exciting things about Bangkok is that there are so many things you can do, regardless of whether you’re a tourist, an expat, or a local. There are literally thousands of places to visit, thousands of things to do, and thousands of activities to engage in. You could literally do one thing every day of the year and never repeat your experience.
The fact that Bangkok is well connected with a modern systems of elevated trains, known in Thailand as the BTS Skytrain, plus the underground, and a myriad of expressways, commuting in the Thai capital is after all not that difficult.
In this article we will look at 5 things you can do at Asok BTS Station, one of Bangkok’s trendiest and most popular destinations.
1. Go for a walk at Benchakitti Park
There’s no secret that Bangkok is thriving with air and noise pollution, so a walk in the park should be a welcome respite from all the madness of Sukhumvit Road. Once at Asok BTS Station, take Exit 4 and head over to Benchakitti Park, a wonderful place surrounded by greeneries. The pond is especially beautiful.
2. Go shopping at Terminal 21
Terminal 21 has almost become synonymous with “Asok Area.” If you’re planning to show around a friend or guest from abroad, start at Terminal 21, an immense shopping mall which recreates famous cities around the world. You can shop for anything you want there. All you need is time to walk around (and money, of course). There’s direct access to the mall from the BTS skywalk.
3. Have dinner at Korean Town
As the name of this small shopping area suggests, Korean Town is full of high quality Korean restaurants. Some of them can get pretty busy so you might have to wait outside until a table clears, but don’t fret. Go inside one of the small shops selling Korean stuff and see what you might want to get. The instant Korean noodles are something nice and easy to prepare on a lazy weekend at home.
4. Try a street snack
Thailand is famous for its street food. Don’t miss out on anything! Try the cold fruit, the freshly squeezed juice, the dry squid, and the grilled chicken. There are sellers hawking their wares everywhere, especially under the BTS stairs.
5. Play pool at Hustlers Bangkok
If you’re exploring Asok area with a friend, then stop by for a game of pool at Hustlers Bangkok, a sport pool bar located in the basement of Time Square Building. But, if you’re all alone, then you can easily ask one of the staff working at Hustlers to play with you. To reach Hustlers Bangkok, take Exit 2 and walk past Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit Hotel. Check out the Hustlers Facebook Page for daily photo updates!
